Project Description
Baskervill is leading the charge for a 68,250-SF, new-build research laboratory at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Its namesake, the esteemed Chesapeake Bay Hall, will be a state-of-the-art facility that includes both wet and dry labs, faculty offices, collaborative spaces, conference spaces, and work rooms to support VIMS’ Coastal & Ocean Processes, Ecosystem Health/CCRM, and Natural Resources/MAP/ABC programs. The design prioritizes sustainability and durability to provide a space that is welcoming and conducive to the coastal ocean and estuarine science research happening within the walls of the prestigious institution, which continues to be among the largest marine research and education centers in the United States. The project is currently under construction with an anticipated completion of 2024.
